In a recent interview with the CMA, Luke Bryan reflects back when he sang “Drink a Beer” with Chris Stapleton. Back in 2013, Stapleton, who was the original songwriter for the song, was asked to perform it with Luke at the CMA’s in a tribute to Luke’s passed siblings.
Stapleton wrote that song for Luke with his siblings in mind and it touches so many more hearts for those who have lost a loved one. Luke states:
“to let people know who have also lost loved ones, that i’m in the boat with em’, and hopefully me dealing with it will help fans deal with it and not feel alone”
Also in this video is Keith Whitley’s wife Lorrie Morgan accepting Kieth Whitley and her’s “Vocal Event of the Year” award form the CMA’s. After Keith’s passing, she explains in her acceptance speech:
“thank you to RCA Records for keeping Keith Whitley, his memory, and his music alive”
