Alexandra Demetree talks latest single ‘You Still Think I’m Beautiful’ and influences in a recent interview with us.
Alexandra is a Jacksonville, Florida native who made her move to Nashville after graduating from Northwestern University.
With the recent successes of her latest single, we asked what influences helped her reach that style, as she states:
“I have many musical influences, but I grew up listening to and idolized the country ‘divas’ like Leann Rimes, Martina McBride, and Shania Twain. I loved their big voices and relatable lyrics, so a lot of my stylistic influences stem from them.”
However, as Country is an important part of Demetree’s Artistry, she also has influences from Motown, stating:
“Obviously country influences the creation of my music because, in my opinion, it’s the genre that places the greatest importance on lyrics and believability.
I am also largely influenced by Motown. I grew up listening to a lot of music from that era, and I fell in love with the soul that’s so apparent in that music.”
A new EP is also coming, as she points out will be a little different than her past music. Meanwhile, she has also been busy with radio tours, which you can stay updated on here.
When asked about her favorite part of these tours, she replies:
“I’ve gotten a chance to see a lot of this beautiful country in such a unique way. I enjoy meeting new people and getting honest feedback about my music.
Wanting to contribute to this industry, and her music sticking with people is her goal. She is well on her way, as her recent singles have had great response.
